I'm currently doing some housing forms and I have two choices for freshman housing:

1) A double room with a community bathroom
2) A triple room with a private bathroom

Now, I REALLY would like a private bathroom. Yet, I don't know if living with two girls will be just too overwhelming. I was told that there's more of a sense of "community" in dorms that share a bathroom. It's also worth noting that if I choose the second option I will have to clean the bathroom myself, which I don't mind, but I would rather not clean it :P

I went for the private bathrooms, personally. It was a good call especially for co-ed floors because the boys on the floor were pigs.
Living with two girls isn’t that big of a difference than one. I lived in a suite and shared a bathroom with 3 other girls.

If you want to go for the triple, that’s your choice. However, consider these factors before you submit your housing application:

-Is bathroom privacy worth the extra $$$ needed to maintain the cleanliness of the bathroom (because nobody is going to clean it for you…unless it’s public)?

-Is bathroom privacy worth the extra $$$ spent on bathroom utilities that would otherwise be provided to and restocked for you on a daily basis?

-Do you cringe at the idea of your privacy being compromised by one more person than you really want in your dorm?

I’m sure you can think of more, but I would go for the double, personally.

^I’m sorry for my ignorance, but is cleaning your own bathroom such a tedious and time-consuming task? I know I sound extremely dumb right now, to be honest I’ve never cleaned my own bathroom - I’ve always had someone to do it. Although I sound ignorant, I’d rather sound like that that not knowing the answer to this question The thing is…you did make very good points.

At my school, the bathrooms were cleaned weekly by house keeping like clockwork. They’d let themselves in if no one answered the door and clean from top to bottom and leave.

@xlightmeup: It was really the ‘$$$’ factor that I thought was pertinent. As with ladeeda, housekeeping does the same for public bathrooms at my school. They honestly do a much better job than I, or anyone else I know for that matter, could ever do.
