I'm going to UF, if it matters. If this is specific from college to college, I'll post at the UF page too.

But in general,

If you sign up for a Triple on the application form, am I more likely to get a permanent or a temp?

I have no idea about UF specifically, but if you sign up for a triple, I’d guess that you probably will end up in a permanent one. If there turn out to be extra rooms available, one or more of you might be allowed to move out, but I’m not sure how common that is.

I don’t know about other schools, but at my school, if you sign up for a triple, that’s what you get. You can move if you have roommate problems, as long as there’s an empty room somewhere else, but short of that, you’re stuck with it.

Triples/quads seem to be much more difficult than doubles, though. Everyone I know who’s been in a triple/quad has ended up moving/fighting constantly with their other roommates. Maybe that’s not the norm, though, who knows.

Thanks! I like the idea of having 2 roomates since I’m a pretty social person. But, one little thing I"m a tiny bit worried about: has anyone who’s lived in a triple, or who knows people who do, had the problem of 2 roomates becoming BFF"s and then being annoyed by the 3rd roomate and it being awkward? (Provided that the 3rd roomate is not impossible and overly annoying)
