How are triples in general? Are they big enough for three people? How do people usually set up these rooms? Do people generally want or not want triples? Why?

Thank you for all the insight you may have.

From what I’ve seen, triples are usually big enough for 3 people.

Whether or not people want triples depends on personal preference though…some people may be more social and so they’ll want to live with others and seem to enjoy it…but others (myself included) value privacy more and stick with just one roommate.

I was in a triple my first year (randomly assigned) and I ended up loving it. I was apprehensive at first about having two roommates but it just makes it more fun. I lived in Cobb and the room was huge. We all lofted our beds and had a big couch and kitchen area and a bunch of room in the center for company or an impromptu dance party. I think most people are deterred by the thought of a triple but I had a really great experience. It’s what you make it… I suggest getting to know your roommates a little before and maybe discussing how you want to lay out the room and who will be bringing what. That’s another advantage- more people to bring the stuff you’ll share like the fridge, TV, seating, microwave, rug, etc.

In triples do they give three single beds that can be lofted or a single and a bunk?

I think three single beds that can be lofted.

Three single beds and you can loft them or make them into a bunk.

I’ve been in a triple in Old East and it was absolutely huge. Biggest dorm rooms I’ve ever seen. They even had a living room area set up in the middle of the room. The triples in Cobb are okay. Definitely big enough for three people but there’s not room for too much else besides three unlofted beds, desks, and bureaus.
