Triton Day Overnight Program

Do they extend the invitation to all accepted students? I doubt that it is only for Regents scholars...

Oh, and is anyone going? :)

I have 2 invites: Triton day and Scholars day for Regents. One is free and the other one costs $60. Which one should I go?

I got the overnight program and triton day invitation. I heard it’s for students who are admitted to their 4th or 5th ranked college. I don’t really know if this is true. However, I got into ERC which is my 5th ranked college, I put Warren as 1st, but didn’t get into it.

I think the OSP is only for Regents Scholars, but Triton Day is for everyone. (The OSP is sponsored by the Scholars Society.) But I’m not sure.

OSP might include Chancellor’s Scholarship recipients as well. But I guess there aren’t as many Chancellor’s as Regents Scholars…?
Triton Day is open to everyone - not just admitted students, but also high school and middle school students and anyone else who’s interested.

I signed up for both because Triton Day is right after the Overnight Program ends on April 6, and I want to see what current Scholars are like and ask them questions in person.

@mmuuuuaa: Are you a Regents/Chancellors recipient? Regents are guaranteed their first choice college, but Chancellors are not.

There is the overnight stay program for the Regents Scholars and then the next morning, there is a breakfast for the scholars, followed by the rest of Triton Day. Triton Day is for all admitted students. If you are a Regents Scholar and want to go to all 3 things, you need to rsvp for all 3-the overnight, the breakfast and also Triton Day. The overnight program costs $60 and you need a permission slip and a waiver sent in before April 3rd. Parents are invited to the breakfast.

Does anyone see how you pay the $60? There was no link for a credit card payment and nothing mentioned about HOW to pay.

@fidoprincess: You need to follow the steps of the registration process all the way through. There’s a registration button:
[UCSD Alumni Online - Scholar’s Society Overnight Stay Program](http://alumni.ucsd.edu/s/1170/index.aspx?sid=1170&gid=1&pgid=3660&content_id=5632)

I did register for the overnight but never saw any link to pay. I printed out the two forms and then went on to register for the breakfast and Triton day. I got confirmations for the last two but none for the overnight so maybe it didn’t go through?

Did you pay already with a credit card on a link? Did you get confirmation for the overnight?

Thanks! I had the page for the overnight open for a long time waiting for DS to do the personal stuff like the research and extracurricular activity answers so maybe it timed out so I should go back and do it again.

Nevermind, I never went all the way through to the next page where you pay so it didn’t register. Thank you so much alwaysawriter! DS would not have been happy to get there and find out that I didn’t really register him. I’m so glad I caught it now with your help. Thanks again.

I hope all of you have a great time! It looks like a really fun program.

@ fidoprincess How do you register for Triton Day. I registered for Scholars invitation and Breakfast. Is there a form for Triton day.

Yes, the link is in the email, right next to and after the breakfast one.
It’s here [UCSD Triton Day - Explore the Campus](<a href=“Triton Days”>http://tritonday.ucsd.edu/)
and then you click the button on the upper right that says RSVP admitted students.

@fidoprincess Thanks

"Congratulations on being admitted to Earl Warren College and to the University of California, San Diego! We are pleased to extend this special invitation to participate in our Annual Overnight Program from April 4-6, 2013. Do you want to gain some insight into what it’s really like to be a UC San Diego student?

WHAT IS IT?
Free 3-day, 2-night personalized experience of UC San Diego
By invitation only for select high school seniors admitted to UC San Diego
Participants will be paired up with a current UC San Diego undergraduate who will serve as their host and mentor throughout the program."

The overnight program is free, according to the email I got. :confused: I know that Triton Day is for everyone, but I am talking about the overnight program in particular. Is this extended to all admitted students?

DS didn’t get that invitation, just the one night stay that’s $60! I hope it goes to all admitted students because his gf really wants to come and was also admitted to UCSD. Let us know more as you find out! Is there a registration link and what is it? Thanks.

@SailorSaturn7

I got the exact same email as you. Like I said before, I got into ERC which is my 5th choice. Is Warren your 1st choice??

@archaic I am not a regent nor chancellor.

This is the registration link I was sent:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ucsdovernight2013

@mmuuuuaa

Warren was my first choice.

I got the same email. Muir was my first choice and I understand from the Regents website that one of the perks of Regents scholarship is first choice of college.
However, I was wondering why the statement "By invitation only for select high school seniors admitted to UC San Diego ".

Based on the link posted, the free 2-night Annual Overnight Program is different from the $60 1-night Scholars Overnight Program.

The free program is hosted by SPACES and is for engineering majors and minorities (I’m guessing, based on the three possible tracks). The $60 program is hosted by the Scholar Society at UCSD and is for Regents Scholars. Both are invitation-only.
