Background: I’m a first year CS major at UC Irvine. I was offered the Trojan Transfer Plan back in high school, but I didn’t want to accept it because I wasn’t sure if a CC/European college would be good for me. I thought that a four-year university would be more stable. However, now that the school year has started, I’ve realized that I don’t like UC Irvine. (Socially dead, apathetic towards the campus, every class is full).
Main Question: Is there any way that the Trojan Transfer Plan is still applicable to me, even though I’m a first year in college already.
A lot of people feel that way about CC or going overseas, but TTP doesn’t limit you to those choices at all. A lot of TTP students attend a four year and still pursue the TTP. What is concerning is you didn’t know that or investigate it more, so that sorta rings a bell that you weren’t that into USC (at least at the time). Technically, the only thing you didn’t do was set up the summer meeting with an advisor which may present as a lack of interest/commitment to USC compared to others that were offered TTP. But you can still apply as a transfer applicant by Feb 1 and they will still have it noted in your file that you were a TTP recipient. The certainty that comes with TTP may be a little less certain in your case (it’s pretty much a guarantee if gpa is met and proper classes are taken), but odds of transfer applicants are higher than those applying from HS. Transfers have around a 28% acceptance versus less than 16% for regular admission cycle. Get that common app started! Good luck!
