I have been having trouble choosing the field of engineering i would like to go into.
I am really good at math will probably graduate high school with calculus 3 and have actually been considering mathematics but I would really like an applied science (not that there are many pure mathematics applications).
I would like to know if anyone has knows any really new and interesting topics in any of the engineering fields such as materials or electrical etc engineering.
This is a difficult question to phrase I would just like to know if any topics really interested anyone which could help me decide.
Thanks

Here are some ways that engineering uses math:

Industrial engineering: optimization, statistics
Electrical engineering: fields, waves, and communications
Computer science: theory, graphics

Math majors often end up seeking finance jobs; a pure math major may want to take some statistics, economics, and finance courses to set up such backup options. Computer science courses are also worthwhile electives for a pure math major.

Thanks
I like the applications like you listed for engineering and finance but I was trying to avoid finance even though it seems like such a match I was trying to find a field which I would be just as suited but in with applications other than finance. I’m glad you could understand what I was asking thanks.

Anyone else have any interesting topics? Maybe I should look at conectrations

Look at Operations Research and see if that sounds like something you’d be interested in.

Materials Science and Engineering is a big field and there are a lot of very interesting topics and it has a lot of overlap with physics if that interests you.

Just google “breakthroughs in materials science” and you will get a lot of links to give you ideas.

Thanks I will

Areas of EE like signal processing, communications and control systems have plenty of math. Those are all excellent areas for a math person.

Thanks ill look
