Who else like me, is having trouble finding the person to write your rec? I'm only a freshman and I feel like no professors know me well enough. The fact is, most of my classes are BIG lectures (i.e. bio and chem) so it's really hard to get a rec there. As for my other courses, I really can't get recs there because the professors don't know me well enough either.

Like I said, I"m a freshman...would adcoms take that into consideration?

I'm a freshman at UF (huge university = huge classes), and I am having the same problem finding rec's from professors. I e-mailed the question to Harvard admissions and I haven't gotten a response yet, I feel very uncomfortable getting a rec from someone who doesn't know me very well and who sees me as one of the 200 (of 1800+) that gets an A in the class; I would feel much better if one of my high school teachers could write the rec for me. I'll let you know what Harvard says, but my best advice would be talk to the Admissions office of the prospective school and find out if it is mandatory to get the rec from a current professor. Keep me posted if you get an answer, thanks.

By the way, what school are you at now? and which schools are you considering? I look forward to discussing the process in the future, Thank you and see you around.

I'm currently at NYU (CAS), looking at UPenn, Cornell, and JHU (in order or preference). All of these schools REQUIRE a rec from a college professor. But they said that they understand the circumstances and that they would take that into consideration. But still...it makes me so nervous thinking about recommendations from someone who barely knows me.
