anyone else having trouble logging-in to housing portal?

D activated her NetID (XXXX@gwmail.gwu.edu) and can log-in to the webmail site, but it's not letting her log-in to the housing portal.

can also get into CI registration, but not housing.

any suggestions? (can't call help-desk until monday)

thanks!

update -

tried again to log-in to housing application portal.

now it’s letting her log-in, but the directions on the main page say that there are navigational buttons to the left of the content/text box which she should use to move through the process.

there are no navigational buttons appearing in the space indicated (or anywhere else on the page).

we have pop-up blocker turned off.
we are using a higer verion of Internet Explorer (8) than the minimum required (6).

D has emailed help desk. just thought i’d also send up a flare here just in case anyone else had the same experience.
thanks for any suggetions.

I am having the same problems, I tried using both Mac & a PC with numerous browsers to no success. It looks like they might have to activate certain features for us before we can see the navigation buttons, so while we may be able to log in at this time they might not have granted us access to any additional features.
Keep us posted though,

Zach

thanks zach.
same issues continuing here.

My problems were fixed as soon as I used ie, but before then, the display was all screwed up. So outside of that, I don’t know what could be causing it.

Does anyone know if we’re supposed to receive some kind of notification email acknowledging our housing submission after we submit it? Because I haven’t gotten anything.

xjustthatawesome: I completed my housing application two days ago and I still haven’t gotten any sort of notification on my gwmail. I’m just waiting it out…

It’s amazing this is still an issue! Two years ago D had this problem. She couldn’t use the Mac, had to use IE on a PC to do the forms.

My S is currently trying to access the student information portal of a different university, and having similar issues - trying different browsers, etc, with no luck.

Same here.
One question about housing.
Will you get better dorm rooms if you complete your housing portal early?

Are you talking about an ED housing preference or does this include RD students as well?

Can’t find the “buttons that’s supposed to be on the left side” either.

Very frustrating. I just sent an e-mail to gwhousing. Tried IE 6.0, 7, and 8. Tried Mozilla Firefox. From multiple computers.

ED friends that I know had no problems whatsoever (I’m an RD) - They were surprised that I was having issues with the website.

Keep me updated please :)

Let us know what you hear back from gwhousing. I would like to know what I need to do in order to finish this housing stuff…

It takes 48-72 hours after you create your Net ID to gain access to the housing application.

If you can’t find the buttons on the left, as I couldn’t, just call the GW housing phone number and they will fix it in under two minutes. Their hours are 9-5 M-F. I got my application to function properly in Firefox.

It doesn’t matter when you submit the housing application, because everything isn’t officially “submitted” until May 14th at 5:00 PM. They only preference dorms by EDI, EDII, then RD. I assume that this is when they will send out a confirmation email, not when you save a draft of your housing application.

after sending an email to the housing folks, they got it straightened out for us and D was able to go online and complete the housing application tonight.

only put 5 our of the 7 options… not wanting to put any options that are on The Vern for fear of ending up there which is not to her liking.

wonder if it’s bad to only put 5 options rather than 7 as requested.

I don’t think my son has ever put down any more than 4 options & has had no problems.

thanks - she was really tempted to put only 3 as she’s not interested in living in thurston either.

D is considering going back and only putting madison, crawford, and potomac.
any thoughts?

i’ve heard that if you put thurston on the list, you’re likely to end up there.
any truth to that from your experience?

I guess it depends. My daughter 2 years ago put down Thurston as a later choice and ended up in Potomac, which was not even a choice for her (it was a sophomore dorm, and they opened up some freshman rooms). So not a sure thing.
