Did anyone have trouble sending fax (returns and W-2s) to the Office of Financial Aid?
I've been trying and trying but the number keeps coming back to me as busy...

Is there a code that I need to enter before the 2128545353 number if I'm out of state? Or are they just not accepting fax on the weekends?

Sameee.
I've been trying since yesterday. I think it's because their fax is off on the weekends.
Hopefully it'll work tomorrow. It'll probably be really busy though since a lot of people will be frantically faxing their forms over.

Just curious, can you email this crap to Columbia? Most online tax programs give you a PDF w/ your tax returns / W-2s. Paper faxes are such a horrible anachronism.

Wait... there's a deadline? I got a letter from the financial aid office telling me that I needed to send in tax returns and such to finalize my aid package, but there was no deadline. My parents haven't finished filing taxes yet.

EDIT: Nevermind, just looked at my email:

We suggest that you and your parents complete 2008 federal income tax forms as early as possible so that we can provide you with your final financial aid package for the 2009-10 school year in a timely manner. All estimated awards will be updated in the spring after a review of completed 2008 income tax returns. Your 2009-2010 financial aid award may change upon receipt of scholarships from sources other than Columbia or upon verification of any estimated information you have provided our office, such as college enrollment of other family members.

why are some people receiving emails and others need to find out themselve going on the web's cheklist? i think it's already kind of decided: the ones getting the emails are in and the ones tracking the items by themselve are denied!! it's that simple!!! deduction and logical thinking! Sad for D.....................................(i still hope i'm wrong!!)

^ That can't be true. Financial aid packages are DUE tomorrow. As in most people have probably just recently sent their items in.
Plus, the financial aid office and admissions office are, I believe, completely separate from each other.

I think like many things you send to colleges, this deadline isn't too strict. A lot of times when the deadline rolls around, colleges are still processing materials they received a week or two ago; that's been my experience with mailing things to places I've applied to. So if you send or fax yours a day or two late, I don't think they'll not give you any financial aid...

@PlatosCave,
I got the same thing during the week day and I called them.
They provide me this number you may want to try:212-854-8223.
phone them and confirm this number!

212-854-8223 is the number for the financial aid office for the graduate program at the FU Foundation, so if you're an undergrad prospie you shouldn't send your financial aid forms there.

And for anyone that is wondering, you can e-mail your forms to the fin-aid office. I e-mailed my forms on Friday and they were posted as "received" by Sunday, March 1.

:\ I scanned all the forms in (so they had signatures). If you don't have a scanner, do you know anyone that does? Maybe you can just use his or her's for this purpose... Or maybe a kinkos?

or call the fin-aid office and ask what they think you should do, maybe they'll be able to help.

I sent in all my documents via scanner! So I guess that's it!

I hope the financial office checks their emails regularly...I couldn't even get a hold of them on the phone after waiting for an hour when the call dropped...and the fax number is still busy.
