Trouble with Financial Aid and Tuition!

Hello I am a upcoming sophomore at Louisiana State University. My mother and I have been trying to finish the Financial Aid process for some time now. The school requires us to send in some tax information from my mothers 2015 tax return but due to some difficulties we have yet to turn all of these forms in. Tomorrow is the due date for Tuition and I had completely planned on paying the entire thing with the financial aid I would have acquired. My mother has no way of paying the tuition herself. If I don’t pay by tomorrow I have no clue what the consequences are, so if anyone has had a similar experience some information would be very much appreciated. I’ve been on hold with the school for about on hour now, and I’ve emailed the office. Is there normally a way to pay tuition late? If so how long might I have (classes starts August 22)?

Thank You All So Much!

I know at my children’s schools, if you don’t pay the fee, they disenroll you from classes until the fees are paid. Can you talk to them about being on a payment schedule until your funding comes in?

You obviously need to get those tax forms turned in. That should be a family priority.

You need to call your university, and ask about this.

I think at my D’s school they charge a late fee, not sure how quickly they drop you from classes. You would have to find out what your school’s policy is for late payment.

They probably have lots of students call right now, with the bill due date looming.

If you need aid you need to submit all aid forms and required paperwork as soon as possible.

Tax returns were due back in April. Initially estimating income is ok but then after taxes are done, you need to link tax return to FAFSA asap to verify income.

Hopefully they can help you get it all processed. Have someone drive you there with the documents needed if possible.

What difficulties?

Have your mom file her 2015 tax yet?

Does her transcript available yet?

What is the delay in getting this information to your college?

You need to contact them. They will tell you what the implications of not paying your bill are.

School might have a payment plan where you dont have to pay everything immediately in the beginning of the semester.
