Trouble with Foreign Language Requirements

So anyway, i found out not that long ago, that you NEED 2 years of language to apply to most universities. Now as an International student, I had no way of knowing this 3 years ago, when I didn't care about college.

Do colleges usually let internationals off the hook for this requirement? Will 17 years of constant immersion in an ESL environment count as a foreign language requirement? Does anyone have any experiences with this sort of thing?

I hope this doesn't matter too much, because I would hate to let all my hard work in school all go down the drain, just because I didn't do 2 years of the same language.:(

The 2 year foreign language requirement/recommendation is designed for students in the US, not for international students. Especially not for those who have a home/national language that is not English! Don't worry about this one.

I'm an Aussie, but I'm Indian born. So I guess it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks happymom!
