Trouble with the Law

Hello everyone, I have tried to look up threads concerning this issue over the past few days but I wasn’t really getting any solid information and there seem to be discrepencies from the Academy concerning the arrest statement in the application. I have submitted nearly everything to the academy and a basic rundown of my stats:

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.67 weighted
Class Rank: 1/117
SATs: 2100
Activities: NHS president, captain of varsitiy cross country, track, scholastic teams, officer of numerous clubs, Eagle Scout, emergency medical technician etc.

As far as the interview and fitness assessments go I believe I did very well.

Unfortunately, I have two black marks that I am very worried about marring my chances of getting accepted to the academy. I missed the deadlines for obtaining a nomination… I am a freshman in college and realized that a public university was not what I wanted, but too late to get the ball rolling on an MOC (In college I am doing intramural and club sports and am on the Dean’s List 4.0 GPA)

And the bad one… Several months ago I was cited for Underage Possession of Alcohol… a very stupid and irresponsible mistake… but I went to court, plead not guilty, and was acquitted of charges (found not guilty). My question is: do I have to mention this charge on the arrest statement to the academy even if the charges were completely dismissed. I know technically it shouldn’t hurt me since I was acquitted but I know that it would be a definite black mark. If anyone has information on this or needs more from me please feel free to ask. Happy new year everyone!

If you were acquitted, then legally you did not do it.....Does the application say to state any charges charged against you or any criminal misdemeanors/felonies? IIRC it asks for the latter, which means it shouldn't be a problem I think. Again I advise for you to call admissions and ask about it. You can ask about charges and wouldn't have to say what they are for to admissions. My feeling (but you need to verify!) is that it does not need to be in your application. Keep in mind that when you are checked for government clearances at the academy it will lead to them investigating the incident on their side. You would be in the academy at that point, but they will probably ask you about it again.

As far as MOC nominations, are you eligible for the presidential? I don't know of any other way for you to get a nom... you may have to wait till next year. Call admissions again and tell them your situation and see if they have some advice.
