Most of my schools I'm applying to don't require students to declare majors, but others do.
I'm interested (as of now) in going into music or theatre production. Something almost in a booking/record agency or theatre scouting type of thing. Do I go into a business major or an arts major? I really have no clue. I'm counting on some incite when I start next year, but now when people ask me what I'm going to do I just say undecided.
But I have applied with a "media studies" interest which is basically an undergrad program for kids that want to do something in the entertainment industry for most of my schools that offer it (Emerson, Vassar) but is that a viable major?

Maybe arts administration? That’s a theater or music department major concentration here at Richmond, focusing on the business side of things rather than creative production (e.g., costume design, set design, directing) or performance.

You need business with entertainment connections. If you hope to work in the “entertainment industry” you will want to go school near the relevant “capital” (i.e., L.A., Seattle, Nashville, New York City, etc.). Your best bet would be to get a business degree with a minor in something in music/theatre/etc. that can get you connected with the “scene.” Additionally, most successful businesspeople in the industry also have a J.D. and excellent schmoozing and networking skills.

My school offers a Music-Business major where you take courses in both subjects and in subjects related specifically to the business of the music industry. You may want to see if the school’s your applying to have any major or option/emphasis (within a major or separately) like that.

Er, wow, ok, that should be “schools you’re” in my above post.
