<p>I'm really interested in Truman State and I was hoping to find some more CC members who have applied this year.</p>
<p>I was admitted several weeks ago and granted a very nice scholarship, so attending Truman is looking more and more probable. I just need the Nursing dept. to read my app and make a decision to complete the process.</p>
<p>Who else on CC has applied/been accepted/decided to go?</p>

<p>Yay! The application is free right now, and if you apply by Dec. 1st you get full scholarship consideration. It is definitely a good school (#1 public master’s university in the midwest) and it is very affordable!</p>

<p>I am a parent of a h.s. senior who is very interested in Truman and has visited twice. The academic programs are excellent, the campus is pretty and well maintained, and the athletics are very strong in my son’s sport. Our standards are high- I am a Wash. U./Stanford/Harvard Law grad and our oldest son is at Wash. U. now (also accepted at Pomona, Claremont McKenna and Middlebury) - and I would be delighted if my son ultimately attends Truman. Given the many scholarship opportunities, it is also an extraordinary value.</p>
<p>I like the small size (but not too small), good academic reputation, and the generous merit scholarships, even for OOS kids. I don’t know about their other scholarships or FA in general for need-based, but as far as merit money, very generous, in my opinion. I think of it as the size of a private but the cost of a public. Happy my child chose to go there. This was our first child to go to college though so admit we don’t have a lot to compare it to!</p>

<p>Me too! When would be the best time of year to visit? And where on earth is the nearest airport?!</p>
<p>It is a great school. Just got off phone with my S (junior) and he is very happy there. A lot of people are calling it a public LAC, and I think that is very accurate. It might be the best deal for the money in the country, even for OOS. If my D had wanted to go there, it would have only been $2500/year TOTAL, room, board, everything because of the merit money, and we are OOS. I think bstephen is 100% correct.</p>
<p>I started to say the only drawback is that it is in the middle of nowhere, but my S thinks that is a plus in many ways. The students get very close and they have tons of fun with Humans vs. Zombies, campus activities, concerts, etc. To answer your question smart.cookie, the nearest major airport is Des Moines, IA (2 hour drive). Of course a lot of people fly into St. Louis (3 hour drive).</p>
<p>Smart.Cookie – the best time of year would be when it’s warm, so the spring if you’re only a junior. I just visited a month ago, and it was cold! Of course I’m used to the cold, but every college visit is more enjoyable when you’re not freezing. Also, I didn’t see many people out (most likely due to the weather), so I felt like the school was really small! However, 6000 isn’t too small. Truman is a top choice for me right now, but if I decide to go, I will definitely visit again. Let me know if you have any questions about the visit – I’d be glad to give you my input!</p>

<p>I’m a junior there now. It’s a pretty good school. Mizzou is a lot more fun. The girls mizzou at are twice as dumb, and therefore twice as easy.</p>
