WASHINGTON—The Education Department’s civil rights division is requiring the Texas Tech University system to end its use of race in admissions decisions, a move to force the school into compliance with its view of federal antidiscrimination law.
The university’s Health Sciences Center struck the deal with the Education Department in February, concluding a 14-year investigation into the university’s use of affirmative action, according to a copy of the resolution agreement viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
