Trusler Dorm

Hi, I’m in incoming freshman to UF and I got assigned to Trusler. Does anyone have information of the social scene that goes on there, the benefits, the cons, etc. Just kind of want to understand what kind of dorm this is in relation to the people living in it as well as the surrounding area. Thanks so much.

My son had it two years ago as a Freshman. Standard dorm with communal bathroom. Can’t speak specifically to the social scene but he made good friends there and they were roommates off campus last year and next. He was in the LSP. Overall not a big deal but they did have planned activities for the group. You choose to participate or not. He had a great RA. Met girls and guys from the other floors. He liked the location. Near the dining hall, and Graham Oasis. And the Hume parking garage was right across the street. Close to Flavet Field and all sports complexes.

@oldbull2 thanks so much this helped lots

I’m gonna be a freshman and I just got assigned to Trusler too so I have like all the same questions haha. Did you want to be in Trusler or did they just assign it to you?

Honestly, Trusler and Simpson are the best kept secrets at UF in my opinion, I lived there last year and it was a pretty great experience. It’s a super chill area, not too crazy like around Broward. If you go to the welcome events that they put on and have a good RA that does a lot of social events you’ll make friends. It’s not too far from classes, but I suggest bringing a bike to make travel time faster. The dorms are fine, not crappy but not luxurious either. Communal bathrooms are cleaned everyday (cleaning staff is great, you’ll probably have Maria). Trusler is a quick walk from Gator Corner dining but there’s a POD and Chomp It (food) right downstairs which is super convenient and open til 3am. The Graham pool and tennis courts are also right there not too mention the Graham woods which is a quiet spot to hang up a hammock and relax or gather wood to make a fire in one of the surrounding fire pit/grills. There’s also a pond right out front with a resident gator in it. Hope this helps, enjoy your first year.
