<p>Got the scholarship letter with my acceptance letter today. $54, 000 over 4 years. i think i am definitely going to go unless i get accepted to princeton.</p>

<p>Yea, I got it too. I was quite surprised, as I wasn't sure if I would get into Rice at all. This scholarship, along with a 2 year paid research thing, complicates my college decision tremendously...</p>

My heart had been set on caltech, but now I might as well go to Rice. Like you said, it's a huge honor and I don't see myself turning it down. Besides, Caltech has summer research opportunities if I'm still interested... haha</p>

<p>It's completely additive, meaning that you will receive a financial aid award in addition to (and not diminished by) your merit award.</p>

<p>I applied to the engineering division because I noticed on the scholarships page that it was the only one that offered full tuition scholarships... and got a full tuition scholarship. And now I'm not so sure that I'd like to do any engineering. ; )</p>
<p>hm...I got the century scholarship and the distinguished scholar award, but Rice's package ended up not adding those to the amount I would have received without the scholarships.</p>
