Are USC merit scholarships parceled out by the schools/departments?
If that's the case, does anybody know how many trustee awards go to Dornsife College?

Yup, it’s by school - and I don’t think there are any official sources on numbers per school

Speaking of this, does anyone know when the people who interviewed will hear back concerning these scholarships?

You will hear by April 1st, and in the past it has been a bit before the first - I would expect letters to arrive late next week.

As Arctic92 says, yes it is by school. The number of scholarships allotted to each school is roughly proportional to the % of total students represented by that school. As a result, Dornsife, as the largest school, has the greatest number of scholarships allotted. Hopefully that makes sense.

Would the results come out before the actual RD results… ? I heard scholarship results come by mail in a separate envelope…

Your question is somewhat confusing, but I will try to answer:

Yes, the Trustee/Presidential Scholarship interview results come in a separate envelope from the admission package, because admitted students interviewed for those scholarships received their admission packages in late January/early February and therefore the result of the late February/early March interviews could not have been included. The interview result mailing schedule is as described in post #4.

If you are asking about the NMF Presidential Scholarship, it varies. Last year some reported receiving notice of the NMF Presidential with their admissions package and some reported no mention of it in the package. Either way, if you are admitted, are a NMF and name USC as your first-choice by the deadline you will receive the NMF Presidential Scholarship. If it is not mentioned with your admission, send in a copy of your NMF notification to USC and double-check that USC is listed with the National Merit Corporation as your first-choice.

If you are still waiting to hear if you have been admitted and you are not a NMF, then I am afraid you are not being considered for the Trustee or Presidential Scholarships. You still my be admitted, of course, and admission/rejection notices are expected to be mailed on the 26th and available online on the 29th. Notifications of smaller scholarships may come with the acceptance and others arrive by letter and email notification (in the form of a notice that “a change has been made to your financial aid…”) over the next three weeks.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Good luck.
