BU is one of my top chioice schools, and I am pretty certain that I will be accepted. However, because it is so expensive and my family does not qualify for aid, I am looking into merit scholarships.

Is there anyone out there who is a Trustee Scholar at BU? If you do not mind sharing your stats, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

All the average ranges for merit scholarships are on the BU web site. Did you check that out?
Our s has the university scholarship--same money situation as yours---its half tuition. He is finishing soph year. Had a high GPA something like 4.6 or so and SAT at 1420. Decent recs, job, top 5% of class. But for the full ride scholarships I would think you'd be looking a the 2300s but it really varies. What state are you from?

One of my friends has that here . I think his SATs were in the 2300 range and he is a musician. There is a wide range though since I wasn't all that much lower and got the University Scholarship. If I had known about the Trustee one I would have checked it out but I think you had to apply by Dec. where as the others required no application other than BU's regular one.

Dogs-My stats sounds similar to your son's. I am in the top 5%, 2230 sat scores (retaking in october). My GPA is probably around a 3.9
I do live in Massachusetts, and my father did his MBA from BU...I don't know if that will help at all...

If you don't get the Trustees scholarship, you may very likely get the University scholarship (half tuition). you definitely have all the stats.

Be careful about the stats BU posts for scholarships. We found them unreliable (i.e. my daughter got no merit and she would have qualified based on those stats AND her extracurriculars would only have helped --they are her forte). We "appealed" but they pretty much ignored it...nor do they redistribute merit aid once the original recipients decline BU, so... Our daughter just got offered a reasonably generous merit scholarship from a better ranked school that had originally placed her on the waitlist. Go figure! Looks like we'll be withdrawing from BU in the near future. She absolutely loved the idea of being in Boston, but finances ARE important and since the other option is also very good school...

Well Common you could aways fax that info/offer from the other school and ask BU to relook at her situation same as a financial aid appeal even though its a merit schiolarship---in light of this offer from a "competeter". Since it looks like they are going into the waiting list, like many schools this year, things may be different from a month ago. Either way, sounds like she has some great options.

PARK, it seems like the 7 yr medical program attracts kids with those superior type of stats across the board so they don't need to use merit aid to help lure kids in since its such a unique program. So the merit scholarships seem to be asssociated with specific BU colleges like CAS. Comparing the cost of the 7 yr program to a regular BS followed by regular Medical school, does the BU accelerated program cost less overall?

pretty much i guess
i mean ur graduating in 3 years
the med school, in terms of room and board, is actually cheaper than some other med schools i was looking at in-state, which is pretty cool
