Trustee Scholarship

Does anyone know when those who applied for the Trustee Scholarship will hear back? Thanks.

I asked this question before....I think the answer was that it would either come w/ the admit decisions or shortly before.... I'll watch to see if anyone has a more definitive answer...

Any word on this?
Aren't they supposed to interview the candidates? Anybody had their interviews?

No, there are no interviews.

I was notified today that I am a Trustee Scholar through my school- everyone else should be finding out soon!
If there are any other Scholars out there- have any of you visited or have any thoughts on BU? As I live abroad, I am making this choice completely blind and find the website a bit lacking in information...

congrats...did they call you?

UWCAC0507.... Congrats! More in the bunches of questions you'll get--if you logon to the BU site (using the sign-on info from the school), do you see anything there? It took D's school a month and a half to tell her that she'd gotten National Merit Finalist, so I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath on them telling her in a timely manner. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough from the snail mail, if nothing else. But, please do let us know details....

Regarding BU, it truly appealed to my D when she visited this past summer. She LOVES the idea of living in Boston and being able to take mass transit to get into the heart of a metropolitan community that is so college-friendly. I wasn't on the college visit trip with her; I've read everything I can hear on CC, and elsewhere on the internet. I like to focus on reading people's gripes about places, as it's always easy to read the college-produced write-ups that always say everything is great. The biggest complaints I've heard is that the campus is long, and spread out, and separated by a multi-lane highway, so it doesn't have the self-contained campus feel of some other universities. If D gets the Trustee, it will probably be her #1 choice; if not, she'll probably head towards better merit $$ elsewhere.

Again, congrats, and good luck on your decisions!!!

I got a letter from BU today saying that I am a Trustee Scholar!!!
I was expecting a full ride from UMass. I will write to them not to consider me for that.

Congrats, beantowngal!!!

i got the trustee scholarship letter too today

does it cover room and board or only tuition?

There is still nothing on the Applicant Link- so don't worry if you don't see anything. It only covers tuition and "mandatory fees"- so not room and board.

Thanks for the info- the thought of living in Boston and attending BU is enough to let me walk on clouds the rest of this term!

I got it too!!!!
Does anyone know if we get separate housing/priority housing?

I am really unsure about everything. I looked at housing and there is a "Trustee House", and I was told by someone else that because we are required to live on campus, room and board were considered "mandatory fees". I suppose we will all just have to wait until we get the Congrats/info packet in the mail. Judging by the time it usually takes mail to reach me here, it will two weeks after the rest of the Americans.

I was talking to other people who applied and were turned down, but had stats better than mine. It seems their selection is quite varied in terms of what kind of people they select- why do you think you were awarded the scholarship?

If I can get my dad to give me a ride to BU one of these days, I'll be sure to find out what benefits are available to a Trustee Scholar. From my reading of the website, I think room and board is not covered. Still, it is a fantastic scholarship and an honor, considering that only 20 are selected per year.

Between BU and Brandeis, both with full tuition scholarship, which is better for studying computer science (major) + biology or finance (minors)? I appreciate any advice in this regard. Thanks.

did you get the info about the trustee scholarship before you got your admission decision, or were you accepted EA?

I did not get an admission decision yet. The Trustee Scholarship letter was from the President of BU, arrived couple of days back. It was in a thin, small envelope, and I initially thought it was a rejection letter. The letter does hint that admission info will come later.

I got the news through my school!!!:) but i haven't gotten a letter at home

Congrats to all of you...are you going to bu for sure now?

I'm guessing that BU doesn't notify those who have not been names as Trustee Scholars?
