I'm a freshman at NYU, and according to my financial aid summary, I have been awarded a trustee scholarship. All the information I've found has been this little blurb on the NYU admissions web site:

"Trustee Scholarships are offered to entering freshmen and transfer students of exceptional promise. Their course work is augmented with activities that introduce students to the intellectual and cultural life of the University and New York City.'

So far I havent heard anything about these "activities". My advisor referred me to the financial aid office. All they told me was that to keep the scholarship for next year, I would have to maintain a 2.00 GPA and make academic progress. So is that it? I just want to make sure I'm not missing out on any opportunities.

I'm not sure I can help you but I am a parent of a freshman who also received a Trustee scholarship. There was no mention of anything but the money...no other activities. I would not have even known about maintaining that (minimum) GPA except that I once asked the school if this was a merit or needs based award and that person explained that it is a merit award and that the amount may have been increased due to need. I asked if it was for one year or ongoing and they said it was for all four years as long as you maintained that minimum GPA (though I would not have even known that if I had not called to ask that question). There was never any mention of anything else such as activities.

My D is ALSO a University Scholar at Tisch....this is not a money award but THAT does involve activities, some of which relate to the community and there are other perks involving paid trips. For that you have to maintain a 3.5 GPA.
