hey i was wondering if it is true that if you are recruited that you pretty much guaranteed admission to princeton?

I highly doubt that. Princeton holds its athletes to a high standard. However, if you are at the top of the recruiting list, have 1580 SAT's, a perfect GPA, enthralling essays, and a couple of national awards, then yeah... i'd say you're in. ;)

Nope. There were 4 girls recruited for crew who didn't get in.

In football, at least, the Ivies have three bands, high, mid and low. They take a certain amount from each band. The bands are computed on test scores and GPA/class rank. If you are recruited and make the band they want you in, you will get in.

I talked to Brown and Penn about football recruiting. To give you an idea, I was ranked 4/450 with a 3.93/4.00 unweighted with an SAT score of 1360 or 1440 (I don't know if I talked to them before or after my better testing). I was comfortably in the high band for recruiting at Brown and Penn (I am pretty sure for Princeton too), and I think my scores were below average for Princeton admits. I got into Brown and Penn, without sports and was rejected by Princeton without sports.

There's definitely much more competition athletically at the low band because the academic requirements are less. In fact, I know someone who got into Princeton for football with a 3.5/4.0 and a 1060 or 1100 SAT. He was getting recruited for D-IA's, so he was really good and probably was in the low band.
