i want to find out from anyone about transferring.
when a college asks about your transcript for high school
is the grades and SAT scores a factor of getting into the college
or is it a file colleges need to confirm you have completed high school?

or is it just your GPA from college that counts?

Your high school record is considered but your college record is much more important, increasingly with the amount of credit you earn. Your high school record is considered initially (for freshman applicants) because it somewhat predicts your college performance. However, how you’ve actually performed in college is more important than a predictor.

I wouldn’t call it just a confirmation that you completed high school, but it isn’t given nearly as much weight as your college record.

I read on this website that the most important part of a transfer college application is your essay/reason why you wish to transfer. I don’t know if that’s true or not - maybe someone else can verify that.

I honestly think my essay and reason for transferring was what got me in (the major i wanted to do was being discontinued at my school for some time).

However that doesnt mean u should slack off in college, just try to take the toughest courses u can and score the best grades in them. Ur essay should take care of the rest

stargurl,
HS records and test scores are NOT just to see if you finished college. They are factors in transfer admissions that vary in weight depending on: which colleges you are applying to, whether you are applying as a soph or jr transfer, the school you are transferring from, and the other facets of your transfer application. While essays and reasons for transfering are important, to downplay the significance of academics would be shortsighted, particularly for selective schools. Please read the first few pages of this sticky thread to get a better idea of how transfer admission works:
