Try to Fix my Computer??

<p>So I have looked all over the Internet and I give up searching so I hope someone can answer my question. What does it mean if my backspace key on my HP laptop only deletes characters one by one? When I highlight a section of words I want to delete, it doesn't do anything and when I try to replace a section of highlighted words with something new it just types what I am writing in front of the highlighted section. This happens in all programs, not just Word.</p>

<p>How would I fix this problem? It has only been happening the past three days, but it is getting really annoying as I keep writing all the essays I have to do.</p>

<p>That's really odd. I don't know how to fix it, but you could try cutting rather than deleting, using CTRL X.</p>

<p>A few possibilities:</p>

<p>1) Make sure Insert is off</p>

<p>2) Make sure scroll/caps locks are all off</p>

<p>3) Make sure you are using US English Keyboard setting under regional settings in the control panel</p>

<p>4) Check if you've installed anything in the past 3 days</p>

<p>5) Maybe try a system restore to before the problem came up?</p>
