Hey guys, I'm looking to apply to Johns Hopkins and some Ba/Md programs. I am not really up to the standards of all you other college confidentials whizz kids...but i don't think i'm too shabby. here are my test scores and some things i've been apart of. what do you think my chances are?

ACT- 32
SAT- 650 W, 670 V, 700 M---retaking these on saturday..who knows if i'll do better.
SAT2 Chem- 660
SAT2 Math 2C-680
GPA- 4.024--as of now...taking my last finals this week..so hopefully that'll go up.

I think that covers everything. i know the actual application and the essay and the recs play a huge role in admissions...but just off the basics..what do you guys think? i'd really like to know. thanks!

oops...i forgot to add French to the AP class list...like that will make a difference...but just letting you guys know....ok..go back to analyzing my future..

My friend got into Hopkins ED with a 30 ACT, and 3.9uw with several APs at a very strong public school, with not so great ECs and decent essays. He was international though, and had excellent english, so at least you know that Hopkins is possible unlike some other ridiculous places (ridiculous in a good way). Just make sure you do ED if you really like JHU, and good luck.

Thanks! yea, i'm international too..hopefully that'll work to my advantage. lol. well, thanks again.

I think ED you have a good chance but RD is more iffy. One of my friends with a 1390, perfect GPA, 6 APs, and decent to good ECs got waitlisted.

ps - i love the word paragon :)

I love the word paragon too. And paradigm.

ED @ Hopkins will definitely help because it shows you're committed. You're stats are good enough...I wouldn't worry too much about retaking SAT's/ACT's. I'm headed to JHU next fall and I got in with 1330 total, 1400 composite, 690/630/620/550 and barely top 25% of my senior class. I'm also an Asian male who applied RD as an engineering major. Since all of my stats were lackluster, I cannot emphasize the importance of the essays. To an extent, the essays you write for Johns Hopkins are as important as your transcript, and more important than your standardized tests. Use your creativity and write something they've never read before...not something you think they want to hear. Also, get an interview if you're really interested and if you show them some genuine love, expect some in return.

I thought my $10 essay stunk and I still got in...

ED JHU will be a good bet.

Make your essays excellent.

If you have a good rank that will help quite a bit and cover for your subpar scores.
