Trying to be a 1 Year Transfer

Hey CC, last time I posted was when I was trying to get into UCSD, and now i'm at CSULA trying to get into a UC as a transfer student. I've read the FAQ's, but i'm still concerned because of the timelines involved in transferring. Here's my problem:

I have plenty of AP credit, and several completed community college classes from high school. If I take enough courses, I should be able to transfer as a junior, but by the time I submit my application I will have no CSULA GPA, and only a 3.67 from the community college I transfered from (A+ in College Algebra, A in ENGL 101, B+ in Spanish 101 to clear high school foreign language requirement). Not only that, but difficulty in getting classes has given me a light (and easy) Fall Quarter with Biol 158 (Brain and Behavior), Comm 150 (Public Speaking), and NSS 101 (Required Intro to Higher Education class for freshman).

So will I be able to apply with any confidence? Will I be able to transfer at all due to the large number of AP course credits I have that don't contribute to my GPA?

I know it's easier to simply transfer from a CCC, but after taking the classes I took at my local community college it seemed too much like the easy way out after all the difficulty in my high school coursework.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

If you really want to go to a UC you need to drop out of CSULA and go back to your CCC. While UCs give strong preference to transfer applicants from CCCs they almost never accept transfer applicants from CSUs.

they accept applicants from CSUs just fine.

but why did you bother to go to CSULA? it’s a crud school and it’s not like you couldn’t get in…

FYI if you maintain that 3.6+ GPA you’ll likely be in if you get most of your prereqs done
