trying to be realistic -- my chances?

<p>I posted a thread earlier asking for my chances on some pretty big reaches--- a lot of people seem to do that. Anyways, after a couple weeks researching other schools that I found to be good matches for me, I've decided to ask again my chances, but for a revised list of schools.</p>

<p>White Male - Indiana</p>

<p>SAT:
CR: 690
Math: 640
Writing: 800
(2130); after the retakes I would imagine it would be somewhere around 2180-2230
I'm retaking them in Nov. & Taking ACTs in Oct.; SAT 2's in Oct.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.8 (unweighted)
Rank: 30/170 (ouch! top 20%, come onnn classmates!)...my school doesn't weigh classes, so people who take easy classes hurt others by high GPAs with inconsistent schedules.
AP English Comp: 4
my school offers only 2 other AP classes--one you can only take as a senior, and the other (AP Bio) is in no way relevant to my desire to pursue English.</p>

<p>I may self-study for English Lit, History, and some Econ...I dont know much about self studying though...</p>

Football - 4 years [Academic All-City, Conference Champion]
Student Gov. - Prosecuting Attorney, Secretary

<p>Does being a jock classify me as a URM? haha..just kidding...but seriously...</p>

<p>I'd say you're in at BU. You have a good chance at Boston College and Tufts. I have no clue about the others.</p>

<p>BC - probably okay as well, and it's a good fit for white, conservative, not very nice jocks

<p>hey now, I'm as congenial as they come...I primarily play sports solely because that's what my body is built for. My mind, on the other hand, is an entirely different issue.</p>

<p>hearing that BC and ND are matches makes me ecstatic, but I'm still apprehensive due to my bad class rank :( anyone have any words of consolation?</p>

<p>Well, you could find some consolation in the fact that your school report will show that your school doesn't weigh the grades. That will definitely give a good reason for the lower rank.</p>
