Trying to Choose a lab for NIST internship... HELP

Hi there. I'm currently trying to pick which one of NIST's labs I get to do my summer internship for Computer Science in. I've narrowed it down to the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology, and the Information Technology lab. I have a couple of questions however.
- They're asking for a form that says I have to guarantee availability for a 6-8 week period, 8 for the IT lab, but they don't tell me what the dates are yet. Me and my family always have a 3 week visit to Lebanon during the summer. Now my family is willing to organize the vacation around the internship, because they know how big it can be for getting accepted into colleges, but if NIST places it in the middle of the summer I can't manage both a 3 week and a 6 week period at the same time. Can I still sign this form?

The IT lab is more relevant to what I want to do in college (computer science and security), but the Nanotechnology lab's dates seem to work out a lot better for me, and I will also be doing computer related tasks in that lab... since something in research is my second career goal, it isn't too far off either. My question is, would colleges care a lot whether I did CompSci in an IT lab or a Nanotechnology lab, considering they both give me work experience in CompSci? Also (and this question's a little weird), since the Nanotech lab seems to be the coolest one on the list, will it be more difficult to get into (taking into account the amount of students applying to each) ?

I'm only allowed to apply to one, and really, I can't find any info anywhere else... can someone help me?
