Trying to choose between some good state schools - thoughts?

I've been finalizing my school list recently and am struggling to decide where to apply as my safe bet. My options are Georgia Tech, UGA, or Virginia Tech. I have a guaranteed scholarship to the third school and am in-state for the first two, so the cost would be minimal for all three.

I'm primarily a social sciences person and I'm interested in things like international relations, sociology, philosophy, and economics. However, I'd probably want to take some advanced math classes in college, and I'd like to go to a school with a good science department. I prefer an urban campus or at least one with access to a city, but charming college towns that are walkable and have things to do will probably be good enough. What's more important to me is that the people are interesting, intelligent, and friendly. UGA kids are probably nice, but I'm not sure about the feel of the student body and its social scene. At the same time, I don't know how much GT or VT would satisfy me academically, although I'd probably have a really good time socially at GT.

Does anyone have any insights on this? Can anyone comment more on the academics at GT and the general feel of VT? Thanks in advance. :)

Well, of course Georgia Tech is a power house engineering university, but they made a lot of effort to enhance their liberal arts offerings in recent years.

Virginia Tech is much, much more than engineering school. It's academic offerings are surprisingly broad and solid. Sciences at VT are great. For example, Wildlife biology, Conservation, etc. Blacksburg, Virginia is definitely a college oriented town.

Georgia has more to offer than either of the others for liberal arts/sciences. GT is often cited for horrible student lives and VT just is not that good outside engineering and very rural in location..
