So I am currently a senior in highschool
and I want to major in Biology, but i dont know which one to chose
there are many different kinds of bio major offered at UCSC
and I know ALL college classes are difficult, but i wanna try to chose the easiest one
any opinions on which bio to take? please no negative comments. thanks! :]

Biology

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Chemistry

Biochemistry
Environmental Studies/Biology
Marine Biology
Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology

I believe you mentioned in another thread that you are thinking pre-med. If so, you might as well bite the bullet and choose a bio major that includes the courses you'll need to apply to medical school (e.g., organic chemistry). You'll have to check the major requirements for each, but my hunch would be that Marine Biology and Environmental Studies/Biology would be less likely to cover the pre-med curriculum.

Beyond that, go with the major that most interest you. What level of analysis of the biological system interests you? Biochemical/Molecular deals with the sub-cellular level, Molecular, Cell, and Developmental will get you up to the cell/organ level, while Biology will include the entire organism/animal (and perhaps even some of the ecosystem).

Chemistry, of course, will stay on the molecular level and deal with inorganic matter as well as organic.

Best is to look up the majors. I believe marine bio is one of the easiest cant say for sure. Least amount of math which most people like. Multivariable is a pain.
