trying to compare differences in financial aid

i am new to this cc thing but i'll give it a try...

i've been admitted to penn and dartmouth and received comparable financial aid packages

penn: $30,000 (mayor's scholarship + work study)
$16,000 ( parent's contribution)

dartmouth: $32,000 in aid (including $4,000 in loans)
$14,000 (parent's contribution + work study)

is there any way i can attempt to bargain between the schools offers to get more from dartmouth although penn offered the mayor's scholarship which is for philadelphia city residents and if so, how do i go about getting this done? thanx in advance

Schools like Penn and Dartmouth aren't likely to bargain their aid based on another school. If you want to attend Dartmouth, write a letter explaining your financial situation if circumstances should preclude you receiving more aid. If you don't have extraordinary circumstances, you aren't likely to change the packages.

The states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont have state grants that are portable to Dartmouth College. Pennsylvania and Vermont residents should file separate state applications.

If you had a state grant, you could just file and take it with you to Hanover.

Your best bet would be to contact FA directly.
