I am trying to decide between UCSB and UC Davis to eventually study Econ/Business. I know Santa Barbara has a Econ grad with classes in Technology/Management and Davis has a Managerial Econ Undergrad program.

Does anyone know which program is better for someone who is interested in Business and wants to eventually get an MBA?

Which school in general would people recommend? Does Davis have a better reputation academically? Does it get boring being isolated there? Is it too hard to concentrate at UCSB?

Any more information or advice on either school is much appreciated!

Thanks

in general both schools have an equal reputation, but for economics ucsb is considered better and has more specific courses. i got waitlisted to davis, and into sb. my sister is at ucsb and loves it. i feel like sb is just a happier place in general, but thats just my point of view.

The Econ major doesn’t have classes in Technology and Management. They are just starting to offer a minor in T & M, but they are through the Engineering department, not the Econ department. I go to UCSB and to tell you the truth I don’t know which program would be better for business school. What I have been advised is that it’s more abour your GPA, post-grad work experience, and your GMAT score. So I wouldn’t really stress what school you end up going to. Hard to concentrate at UCSB? It all really depends on you. There is always going to be a party going on, you just need to make sure to buckle yourself down whenever you have work to get done. If the partying scene is really an issue for you, I recommend you live in a quieter area in Isla Vista. The farther away from the beach the quieter!

Thank you so much for the advice! Really tough decision
