Hi there! I am going to be a junior in the fall and I am planning on taking 6 classes: AP biology, AP computer science A, AP US History, AP Calc AB, Regular English, and an Honors biomedical sciences class at school. All of high school I have consistently gotten good grades, but haven’t taken on the workload i will have next year. I am trying to decide whether to take AP biology online at BYU or in person. I would rather take AP biology online as many people I know have said the class is difficult due to the fact that the teacher has teaching methods that are not compatible for most students. My one concern for online classes is that colleges may not like the fact that I am taking an online class during junior year, when my workload is supposed to be large. Does anyone have any recommendations for how I should proceed?
If your high school offers it and you have no schedule conflict, I would take it at your high school.
Could you take it online over the summer?
What about foreign language - did you reach level 4/AP as a sophomore?
How would online biology work - would it appear on your transcript, would you have labs, have other students at your school done it?
I would take it at school.
I would also replace the bio med elective with foreign language.
a college may prefer to see you take it at school to do the labs. I would take it at school.espdcially if you plan on going into a stem major. If you don’t take it at school what would you take during that period at school or does your school only have 5 periods?

Technically I could take it over the summer, but I am also doing SAT Prep and an Internship that requires a lot of time which won’t give me enough time. Also, I want to be taking the class around the time of the AP exam in the spring. My only concern for the class at school is the fact that most students in the class have to study a lot of the curriculum on their own since they feel like the class doesn’t prepare them for the exams.
Yes, my sophomore year was when I completed my third year of world language, but I am not planning on going on to the next level due to the fact that my teacher had an emergency in the beginning of the year, and we were never taught the curriculum. I also do not want to pursue further studies in world language as of now.
The reason I am taking the biomedical class is because it is a part (2nd class of 3) of a 3 year program of biomedical classes (PLTW), and at the end we receive a graduation stole and some sort of accreditation. I also am not planning on taking a world language because my teacher had an emergency early in the year which prevented me from learning the curriculum.
