Trying to get a 31+ on ACT

what do u suggest?

Taking many practice tests.

def. practice tests..do some to get a feel for the format and then start timing yourself so you can get your pacing down pat.

Get a good nights sleep the night before, and don't stress yourself out. And work on your timing if you're not a fast test taker.

where would i get these practice tests?.......

omg- my 100th post...im soooo happy

Try the Real ACT book. Because it is the only prep book actually written by the creators of the real test, it contains the most accurate practice tests.

Although, it might not have the most accurate practice test's Barrons book has a comprehensive review of every section on the ACT, including major grammar and mathematical practice.

I have no experience with Barrons book, but I liked the Real ACT Prep Guide for format/practicing, and Kaplan's ACT book for concept review from math and English.

just keep trying~
What happened w/ me:

You're encouragement to us all danielsjang. Thanks I needed that.

i am going to but the real Act prep book- but do i need another type of preparation?

i used the real ACT book and it was just fine by itself. to me, it was just getting used to the questions. there weren't many "tricks" to look out for like the SAT

did ne body use nething else other than the real ACT book

I also used the PR book and found it rather helpful.

were u satisfied with the score- and how long did u prepare for the ACT

I used a combination of Real ACTs and Barron's How to Prepare for the ACT.

It was summer, so I spent a week before taking practice tests and reading through everything on the English section since it was my weakest section.

I got a 35 with 12 essay after those efforts.

I didn't even know what was on it going in. My philosophy: Work very, very quickly. Don't read the science data, but guess as if the answer is the one that sounds the most logical out of context. Actually read the reading passages throroughly, but make sure you allott about 10 minutes per passage (I remember there being 5 or something like that, and 45 min or so). That way you have time to finish, because not finishing= not a score over 31, at least not likely. My friend didn't finish science and got a 31, but her individual scores balanced. Personally, I got a 34 and a 12 essay, from working fast and making up a load of BS on the essay.

I got a 35 and a 12 essay. I prepped by taking 1 single practice test the night before, and although this doesn't sound like much, I made it important to UNDERSTAND how the the test will work. The important thing, going into this test, is not knowing much material; if you are relatively intelligent and studious, you will know most if not all of the material, but the problem lies in completing the test EFFICIENTLY. You do not want to be "rushing" per se, but want to definitely be on top of the time. You shouldn't have to come to a point where time is really closing in on you if you allow yourself a thorough understanding of how each section is made to work.

wow a 35 with only one test..... great job

if you only have time to study for either the sat or act, which test should you study for to help both....act?
