Trying to go from a 21 to 27+ on ACT

I took the ACT back in April during the state test for the first time junior year with no prep. Is it possible to raise your score from a 21 to a high 20 maybe even 30 with good prep. I am using the ACT Red book and Cracking the ACT with 4 practice tests. I will take the ACT on Sept. 14 and sometime again in October if my score is less than ideal.

Yes. Just keep taking practice tests and become familiar with the time limits.

raising a score 8-9 points will be hard but I would say 4-5 points is doable - I did it. If you study hard, you should be able to count on a 25+ for the september ACT.

Good luck!!

My best advice would be after taking each practice test take the time to really think about each question you missed and make sure you study the CONCEPT behind what you missed. If you go about this in a measured way, there is no reason you can’t see a significant jump in your score.

It’s doable if you figure out where you’re weak and study, drill, and do everything possible to improve. I would suggest doing a little bit a prep, becoming familiar with the test format, and taking a full length test under ACT conditions to see what you get. And then aim for 3-4 points above that score by September, and maybe another 1 or 2 by October if you’re still not at your goal.

I don’t suggest relying on the practice tests from Cracking the ACT. The detailed help for every section is great, but your scores on their test may be too high/low. Instead, I suggest printing these four released practice exams to get a more reliable estimate: <a href=“Official ACT Practice Tests: Complete List of Public Tests - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1578135-official-act-practice-tests-complete-list-of-public-tests.html</a></p>
