Trying to help S2

<p>Hi all. Well, I have been raving about this site since me older S was a senior in high school and he is now starting his second year at college. I am hoping for some guidance again as we start the search with my younger S (entering junior yr. hs). My older S was not very interested in the search process and my younger S seems to be headed the same way. I am trying to help him by searching on the computer, etc for possibilities. He doesn't care if it is warm or cold and would prefer not to be in a city (outside is okay). He definitely wants a "campus" feel. He does well in school, but does not really like to work. He is stronger in math and has some interest in sports journalism, but otherwise no real strong interests. Although very responsible, he is initially shy and at times is anxious if overwhelmed, so I think he would do better at a medium to small school and probably no farther than 4-5 hours away (we are north of NYC).</p>

<p>I would really appreciate any direction people can offer, maybe even from personal experience. I am at a loss since my experience with my older son was so different. Thanks.</p>

<p>We need more details. But its also just a tad early since you likely dont have any SAT scores yet. </p>

<p>My recommendations to others in the start of Junior year is to get a copy of Barrons or Petersens directory of colleges and give it to your son to peruse.....the 2009 versions are out.</p>

<p>Start with Connecticut and New York schools.</p>

<p>One school that comes to mind immediately is Union College in Schenectady. I think it has all the features you're looking for.</p>
