I am looking forward to UVA next year, but there is one thing that I'm worried about. My current courses are AP Gov., AP Calc. AB, AP Chem. AP Enviro., and Dual Enrollment English for the 2nd semester. I dropped a course, AP Computer Science, in February mainly due to the fact that I was falling behind in that course and didn't want my other grades to suffer. I thought I e-mailed UVA last month about this situation, but when I called them, they say they have received nothing. I am an Echols Scholar and have a full tuition & fees scholarship but am a bit worried that this could be in jeopardy because I dropped the class. My grades are no problem (B+ average), but could I lose scholarships or Echols Scholar admission because of this? Dean J, your insight would really help. Thank you!

Why don’t you anonymously call or email and state the hypothetical what if …( your situation)

Write or email the admissions office and let them know about your decision to drop the course. Don’t be anonymous! I’m sure you’ll be fine. They saw something special in you to make you an Echols Scholar. Dropping one course isn’t going to change that.

I think you’re fine too! That is a huge courseload and one less computer course isn’t going to blow it for you.

As long as you fulfill your hs graduation requirements with decent grades, you’re fine.
