Trying to narrow down school apps. Please chance me!!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me my chances. I'm freaking out on whether or not I'm being realistic.

Straight out of high school I when to Hawaii pacific university and studied business. I only studied business because I had no idea what I wanted to study. I earned horrible grades, ending my 1 and only year with a 2.4. I did not enjoy living in Hawaii or attending HPU so I returned home to Southern California. For the next two years I faded in and out of community college and was still screwing around. After about 3 semesters I had 5 F's and 1 A. I dropped out again. A year later I met an anthropologist teacher who was amazing, and he influence and inspired me to pursue a degree in archaeology. I always wanted to be an archaeologist but I didn't think it was a realistic goal.
Once I knew what I wanted to study, school became fun and fairly easy. I turned all of my F's into As and I've made the deans list the last 3 semesters. I will also b eligible for AA for transfer in Anthropology. I am now 25 years old.

Now the questions:
I currently have a 3.71 at my cc and expect after this semester to have a 3.75 or 3.8. Unfortunately my Hawaii gpa (2.4) is combined with my cc gpa and I belive it is around a 3.2. I realize a 3.2 is not very competitive but in my UC applications I told them my story and also that I hoped I would b viewed as "that was then, this is now." Which I've heard they sometimes do. Also I believe at most colleges anthropology is not very impacted. For example ucla's anthropology ba program for 2014 has a 65.75% admit rate and an average admitted gpa of 3.53. Both are far below the schools over all average.

I've applied at ucb, ucla, ucd, ucsd, ucsb, and ucsc.
I also applied at a handful of csu's but I was wondering my chances at these uc's. I obviously would love to attend Berkeley or UCLA, but are those out of the question?

Also out of curiosity are these out of the question?
University of Washington at Seattle
NYU
University of Michigan
University of Texas at Austin
McGill- Montreal

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Will you be eligible for financial aid and what’s your budget?
You’d need 50K to pay for UWA-Seattle or UT Austin, 55K for UMichigan, and NYU is notoriously bad for financial aid, even more so for transfers (who in addition need to find their own housing).

I should b eligible for financial aid. My mom is a retired second grade teacher and my dad is a self employed antique dealer. I’m technically an independent. I received financial aid when attending HPU and that was before my mom retired and I was a dependent. My household is under $90,000 and I’m around $8,000 yearly. Aside from money I’d like to know my chances of being admitted.

I’m asking because at age 25 you’re automatically independent (your parents’ income won’t be factored in, only yours) but none of the OOS universities offer financial aid unless you’re instate so it’s pointless to apply if you don’t have the budget (and it sounds like you don’t).
Considering your background, I think you have a good shot at UCSC and even UCD and UCSB, but UCLA and UCB are a long shot but your new maturity (both in age and in grades) may help.
You might want to look into the schools suggested here:

Thanks for the help! My sister recently graduated from Oregon state university and the tuition says $42,000 when everything is said and done and I’m almost sure she had fafsa help. Wouldn’t it b quite a bit cheaper for me because I would b only 2-3 years? Would it still b pointless? If I got into NYU or WU there is a chance I could beg a distant relative who’s money is limitless. Still what’s my chance for those out of states/country?

Bump!!

Still quite curious about the out of states

Here are the admission standards for McGill for American applicants These are NOT admission averages, they are the minimums to stand a solid chance of acceptance. I am not sure how your previous college grades would be factored in though.

How about Brooklyn college?
