Well I dropped a public speaking class at 7 in the morning for obvious reasons and not so obvious reasons, now I need to pick up a new class. I have called the office of registration, but honestly can’t seem to get any helpful answer to my questions…

First, can I majoring in GENE take, say, an architectural engineering class?

Second, could you recommend a class for an incoming freshman? My schedule includes

chem 127 - 11/12
Survey of economics
Engineering science 1

No math or English… I believe because of ap tests but I’m not sure. Thanks!

Good luck finding a class that is still open that is not just empty credits. Did you go into your my calpoly. It will show what you need to take and what classes are open.

I’m not sure if you can take the architectural engineering class since that is not a part of your curriculum. I would look at the GENE curriculum and stick with that. You might want to talk to the engineering advising center. They get to my messages quickly:
eadvise@calpoly.edu

As for the classes, which AP courses did you end up taking? If you already took the AP english exam, I would try to get into a communications course (and crash it), so you can take an A3 course later. If you go to the student center, in the course history, it will list all of the AP courses that counted for credit and under which category it falls in. I think it is best to always take a math course each quarter as well since one AP test won’t substitute for all of them.

This website: [Plan A Student Schedule](http://pass.calpoly.edu/init.do) will show you which classes are open. If you are waitlisted, try to crash the class the first day.
