Trying to recover from a bad year in terms of gpa

Since 9th grade I've had depression; it got really bad last year, which REALLY impacted my grades. I finally went on medication this summer.

I'm a junior in high school right now. My GPA is currently a 3.95 weighted, but I am taking 4 ap classes and 2 honors classes, which have a 1.0 and 0.5 boost, respectively. I have the option of taking another ap course online, but my counselor (whom I need final approval from) is very reluctant to let me take another ap course because my grades last year were so bad that she doesn't think I'd be able to do well in it. I have told her that I suffered from depression, which impacted my grades, but she's still as disparaging as ever.

Would it be possible to recover from my GPA to a 4.2 or 4.3? I'm doing well in my classes right now; I have A's/A-'s in all of my ap and honors classes, but a b- in french (which is unweighted, but I'm getting tutored for it so I will definitely bring my grade up).

Thanks so much!

Your GC is correct, four APs is enough for anybody. It’s all you need to let colleges know you can handle a tough course load, you’ll be going for the Upward Trend angle, not the overall GPA angle. Do everything in your power to do well in the classes you have, do not add more to the pile or you run the risk of is all coming crashing down.
