trying to stop a teacher from giving you a rec...

Yeah I know it sounds crazy.

But my AP English teacher this year said she would write me a rec for EA... and I kinda don't think she should...

She barely knows me.
In fact, I don't even think she likes me because...
1. she hates the class I'm in
2. i am a mediocre class participater, we usually have differing opinions...

Basically I asked if it would be okay to contact my 11th grade English teacher for a rec (since she left this year) and she was just like, "i'll just write you one"
^and that was the first week of school.
I also think she thinks I'm pretentious/naive because no one from my school ever applies to the Ivies and she looked surprised when I told her it was for Harvard.

Is there a way I can stop this and just get a rec from my 10th grade English teacher...?
Should I be concerned...? My other two rec's will be glowing.

just tell her, "thank you for offering, but i'd really like to get in touch with mrs. so-and-so because we've known each other for a while." It shouldn't be that hard. :) I would talk to the guidance office or other teachers to find out how you can get in touch with your 11th grade english teacher.

jeez no offence, but you don't deserve to go to harvard if you can't even say "no" to someone.

is your GPA like 4.5 or something?

It's hard to say no especially when you can potentially hurt the teacher's feelings.

Let her write it, give it back to you, and don't submit it.

Just contact your 11th grade teacher. Even if she has moved to a new school, she still can write a recc for you. If you don't know how to contact her, ask the principal's office. Presumably they know where her new school is.

thanks for all the advice.
i'll contact my other teacher and see how it goes w/ my current teacher...

"My other two rec's will be glowing."

You already have two other teacher recs? Harvard only wants 2 teacher recs...

Well, yeah - one's a supplemental.
