Hi! I’m very new to this website, so please bear with me.
I’m currently attending an out of state community college. I am finishing my pre-requisites for nursing by following TAMU’s requirements. I have spoken with an advisor and all of them will transfer. After this spring semester, I will take a summer and fall semester then I will hopefully transfer to TAMU. My question is how early do I need to apply just to get admitted into A&M since I also want to be accepted into the nursing program?
EDIT: I have a 3.4 GPA (it should be higher after this semester), made the Dean’s List last semester, and plan on transferring into the Fall 2021 semester.
@stary2k Fall 2021 transfer open January 1, 2021 and clost March 1, 2021.
Apply January 1 if you have all of the required coursework completed. No reason to wait.
Competitive applicants will have appropriate coursework graded/completed at time of application with the highest GPA.
Applicants are encouraged to attend a Prospective Student Informational Session
before applying https://nursing.tamu.edu/visit/
Admission to the program is available 3 times a year. Students are admitted each spring, summer and fall terms to the Bryan—College Station campus and each fall only to the Round Rock campus. Admission to the Texas A&M College of Nursing is highly competitive. Applicants may only apply and be considered for one program and/or campus location each application cycle. Students may not apply to both campus locations.
Application opening/closing dates are listed at https://nursing.tamu.edu/degrees/bsn-traditional/index.html
You must have completed core curriculum and nursing specific prerequisites prior to being admitted.
Admissions Assessment A2 HESI entrance test is required.
Transfer Course sheets can change from year to year so make sure you are following the most up to date one. This is the required coursework Transfer Course Sheet for fall 2019. https://web-as.tamu.edu/ecardimages/publications/2019TCS/NURS19-Nursing.pdf
Fall 2021 should be up later this year.
Don’t put your eggs all in one basket. Nursing School admissions are very competitive and sometimes it takes several attempts. Also consider applying to UT Arlington, Texas Women’s University Dallas, Tarleton, and Texas State Nursing School (which is also in Round Rock).
