Trying to transfer!

I’m currently a student at UCR, but I’m trying to transfer to Davis for personal and academic reasons and I have been talking to counselors at both schools for a few weeks now, but that has proved to be unfruitful. They have been directing me back and forth towards each other and once in awhile I get directed to admissions.ucdavis.edu, which I have been told is the place to go to. I cannot find ANY way of contacting admissions other than through “Ask Gunrock” so I’m going to redirect my questions to you guys!

I know I am eligible for a transfer, but HOW can I transfer? Am I too late? And if I am late, is it possible to transfer in the middle of the next school year?

I hope you guys can actually help me! Thanks!

It sounds like it’s very difficult to transfer in if you don’t have junior standing.

Can I apply to transfer to Davis for my sophomore year?

It is rare for students to transfer to UC Davis at the sophomore level (any student with less than 60 semester or 90 quarter units). The only college that may accept sophomore level applications is the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in non-selective majors for fall terms. Priority is given to students from California community colleges. You can check the open or closed status for majors at the University of California’s website, universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergradadm/apply/applymajors.html.

Transfer applications will be accepted again in Fall 2012 for the 2013-14 school year.

Thanks! I’m actually just a few units away from 90, but I’m wondering, is it already too late to do a UC to UC transfer? I understand that the normal applications were already due, but would I also be using the same application?

Good question. My son is transferring from a Community College after this Spring. He had to apply during the Oct 1 - Nov 30 application period for Fall 2012. I don’t think they differentiate between a CC or CSU or UC transfer. So I’m thinking that if you did not apply in Nov for Fall 2012, then you will not be able to transfer as they are no longer accepting applications.

I’d call admissions and ask… it’s a good question.

I am not aware of any special application period for UC to UC transfers.

Does that mean there are not any special application period for UC to UC transfers? Is there a link or page or catalog that says there are not any special application period for UC to UC transfers? What is your source of this information?

Good question VentureMan… I wish to know that too. The counselors I have been contacting have been VERY unreliable… :</p>

I’m just saying if there is one, I’ve never heard of it. I’m certainly not the last word on UC protocol but I expect UC-to-UC transfers have to apply in the same manner as any other transfer.
