Trying to understand ACT score?

<p>I'm overall happy with my ACT composite of 35... but I got a 9 on the essay and a 32 in the writing section. Will this negatively effect the way that admissions committees view the overall 35?</p>

<p>How could the composite score even have been 35 with such a significantly lower writing score?</p>

<p>The writing score is a stand alone score that is not used in calculating composite. A 9 is not bad and it will have little or no impact on the effect of a 35 composite.</p>

<p>Writing score will not impact the significance of that 35 you got. Well, a 9 on the essay is not that bad.</p>
