TTU Clark Scholars Program (2014)

I sent mine Monday! and just checked that they received it by the tracking number, so when do you think I should receive an email confirmation from the program? I’m kind of scared because I came home and found my last page (narrative) on the floor near the printer. But I double-checked before I sent it so I’m quite confused. I’m praying that that was just another page that somehow got printed twice.

@Holocaust I think the number of words depends on which browser you are using to work on the application.
@fairyfantasy I talked about three topics and described them briefly, but I didn’t have enough room to go really in-depth… I wasn’t entirely too sure about how/what they exactly wanted just from reading the directions given.

@07160123, mine was received yesterday according to my tracking number - I haven’t received a confirmation email yet

@Bingolover Okay, that makes me feel much better- but when do you think we’ll get it? I hope they send the confirmation email before Friday so I can feel better about it. Oh and another question, on the website, there is an address at the bottom of the application page (when you click on the application tab), and then there is another address at the bottom of the tips/rule page for application. Does it matter which one we send it to?

I got 2080 in Dec 2012 and just took the SAT again last month(Jan 2014). Since my SAT score in sophomore year sucked, should I include it in the application?

@07160123 thank!

By the way, how did you guys print your online psat score report?

@fairyfantasy you should be able to get a pdf file from collegeboard when you sign in to see your past scores. Is that your only standardized score? or do you have better ACT/PSAT scores to back it up?

@07160123 I do have a better PSAT Score but my PSAT Score is not greater than 223. :frowning: Do you know if they will ask for our SAT score if we didn’t submit one? I am hoping that my SAT score from last month will be 2250-2350.

@07160123 When I sign in I only see my SAT scores, not my PSAT score. I just made a copy of my paper report. I hope that’s ok.

Uh oh. If I send it Wednesday morning with Priority/ express mail, will it arrive on the 7th? I live in NY…

@fairyfantasy No, they won’t ask you for your SAT scores if you submit at least one test score, either of those three. I personally didn’t report my PSAT scores and only reported my SAT scores because it was <223… and it didn’t match my SAT scores (I somehow always do worse on PSAT than SAT).
Oh and sorry, yeah I thought you were talking about SAT scores. I’m pretty sure a copy of the paper report is fine.

@Holocaust I sent it Monday afternoon with Priority/express mail (around 4pm) and it got there 9 AM today, so I think you are fine.

@07160123, I’m going to email the director tomorrow just to be safe… Hope that isn’t considered annoying

Guys, what did you put down for research? I’m wondering if this program favors biology people / statistics people… I mean, just looking at past scholars and taking note of what department Dr. MSF is in himself.

I hope not. I wrote about my interests in some topics in astrophysics and mechanical engineering.

There are two addresses on the website. Which did you guys mail it to?

Dr. Michael San Francisco
Texas Tech University
Department of Biological Sciences
Flint & Main
Lubbock, TX 79409-3131

or

Clark Scholars Program
Texas Tech University
Box 41017
Lubbock, TX 79409-1017

Thanks.

I sent in my application yesterday via Priority Mail.

By the way, how many do we have here that applied to RSI as well? And is anyone doing any other summer programs?

@cosmtig Nice to see you at the Clark forum! I believe I sent it to the first, because it said to send it to Dr. San Francisco himself.

@Holocaust I did Biochemistry and Electrical Engineering. I don’t think you will have a problem picking a relatively unpopular field. It might even help your chances

It says “If using FedEx, UPS, etc. mail to:” and then the first address. Dr. MSF directly. That’s what I addressed it to.

@Bingolover did he email you back? I’m going to email him tonight if I don’t get the confirmation email by then…

@bingolover did he email you back yet?

@07160123, I emailed him like an hour ago - no response yet, but I’ll let you know

@holocaust, I put Chem eng and Mech eng

@Bingolover I don’t know why that got sent twice… it must have been my phone being stupid. But okay thank you!

I just sent out my application today. I wonder if I can send my Jan 2014 SAT score to Dr. SF through email after I receive it next week since my PSAT score was not high enough for >223 :frowning:

I have a feeling I am going to get rejected. This program is so selective. When I look at the past alumni, most of them went to Ivy Leagues and Stanford.

@cosmtig I used the 1st address. I don’t think it matters.

@holocaust I chose Biochemistry and Psychology. I have a feeling a lot of people chose Biochemistry, which means more competition.
