Tufts acceptance rate 2023 issue

Apparently the acceptance rate for this year’s class is “below 15%” which is extremely similar to the acceptance rate of the past few years (~14.7%).

Tufts overenrolled for the class of 2022 with this acceptance rate and housing is a complete mess. Not to mention, the total number of applications rose 5% for this year, which means they may have accepted even MORE people than last year.

This means we will have yet another oversized freshman class which will lead to crowded dining halls, crowded residence halls, and overall chaos. I’m disappointed with administration’s decision not to cut the acceptance rate drastically

Where did you get this info?

@brantly on reddit, I asked what they said the acceptance rate was, and someone told me “it said under 15%”

If it was under 14%, it would’ve said under 14%

If someone who received a decision can confirm this it’d be appreciated so this thread isn’t pointless

I have not seen a public announcement from Tufts yet. Are you a student there? An incoming student? This was your first post on CC.

Probably best to wait for an official announcement. “Less than 15%” does not sound like an “official” number.

With regards to housing, remember than Miller and Houston halls were undergoing a complete renovation this year. Students were rotated through the dorms, so one half of one of the dorms was always empty (i.e. being renovated). The renovation will be complete this summer which will make about 125 more beds available next fall. The third phase of the new COHO apartments will also be available next fall - adding 56 more beds. The former frat house on 123 Packard Ave. is also being converted to a dorm this summer.

Tilton, Bush and Harleston Halls will be renovated this summer as well, but that will not increase the bed count.

Wow, @Mastadon is a fount of knowledge!

Anyone know anything about waitlists this year? I’m hoping they overcompensated for last year
