Also, even with 11% acceptance, Tufts over-enrolled last year. Single digits acceptance rate is highly likely this year.
ouch.
Some
Sources on this forum for NEU saying 31 percent .
Oh well ))) . I just don’t understand the recent trend of increased competition and application rates . Why is this happening ? More students are going To college ? Or those colleges specifically ?
UVM , Umass are seeing also an increase in applications … so it’s across the board May be …
I was trying to find data but I could
Not in this phenomena …
It’s seems like been an A/B student it’s not at all good enough for those schools .
It’s that students are applying to more colleges. Years ago most would apply to a handful of schools. Some HS capped applications at 8. Now I hear of kids applying to 20 or more!
why ?
The recommended to apply round 8- 10 schools …
I think a few reasons. There is so much uncertainty - especially with TO. More and more kids are applying everywhere. Taking shots at “reach” schools because they may not have to submit SAT scores. People panic because all the selective schools are now super selective. Formerly target schools now became reach schools. So students hedge their bets and apply to more schools.
Here are more details on Tufts’ 12% increase in apps for Class of 2026:
thank you !
Across the schools that my S22 has applied (8 in total), I have come across numerous seniors who have applied to +/- 20 schools. One young man wrote that he has sent in 41 applications. 41. How can anyone keep track of 41 applications/portals??? I actually thought he was a ■■■■■, thinking this couldn’t be true, lol. But it is. I am saddened for these students who feel such pressure that this is what they feel compelled to do.
I really think the TO policies is what’s driving the insanity. People who would have never considered applying before to super elite schools are all throwing their hats in the game and surprisingly some of them do get in. That in term is getting the colleges to brag about the unprecedented numbers of applications they have received further creating panic and uncertainty. At my son’s school applying to 30+ schools is not that uncommon. Students and parents need to take control of the process, or it will only continue to get worse.
chance me!
Applied EA with

Studio Arts Major
(Private high school in OC, CA)
I just wanted to get a feel for what I should expect!
Thanks in advance!!
Are you sure you applied EA? Tufts doesn’t have EA
omg that was a typo I applied RD!
You have terrific stats! Congrats! Tufts is big on the essays, especially the “why us”. If you manage to convince them, you are good. Did you submit a portfolio? I am not sure if your major is applicable for that. With RD candidates they will be looking closely at the ones that have done a bit extra to apply. It shows you are not just shot gunning a bunch of schools.
Yes I did! I like to think that it’s pretty strong but I did have a portfolio review with someone from the program and the response was good as well.
You have great stats - they are also big on demonstrated interest. Good luck!
41 schools … its insane
my daughter school councelors did not recommend to apply to more than 15 schools…
its so exausting to go through an apllication process with supplimentals , demonstrated interests … cant imagine my DD 22 applying to 30 schools. We are on East Coast.
Good Luck !!
