so I do feel obnoxious for posting my stats in a couple different threads, but I'm really eager for some insight. I want to apply to Tufts (not ED) for engineering, and i'm wondering if these stats would get me into the arts and sciences school, let aloneeeee the engineering department. Will I applying for engineering ruin my chances?
Thank you again!

again, sorry for being annoying! i'm just like any other worried high school kid! thank you allll

Your SAT scores are fine. They’re in the middle range of those who submitted their scores. I think it would be fine if you submitted your ACT scores too, but I searched on College Board, and only a quarter students in the last year submitted theirs (keep in mind that there’s a chance this might be outdated).

Your class rank and GPA are competitive. Tufts is one of the best schools in Massachusetts, and I think in the New England area, from what I’ve heard.

As for APs, you’re robust. ;] Not many people take APs until their junior and senior years because they haven’t absorbed “high school” or because the school doesn’t allow underclassmen to take APs anyway.

Your extracurriculars, I believe, are strong. It’s better to be concentrated in a few things than a lot. You seem to love music and running. =] In fact, you’ve done more than I wanted to do in my years in high school (which I do regret, but what can I do? I’m satisfied, however, that I’ve gone through with opportunities too haha…). I wouldn’t put too much weight on National Honors Society and generic things like those. In my school, for example, it’s pretty easy to get into those kinds of things. I chose not to apply for NHS at my first chance.

You have good work experience. That is all I can say. =D

My Thoughts: Mid-to-High Reach

[Chance Me If You Want](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1008159-chance-wannabe-film-polysci-english-major-ithaca-bu-nyu-columbia-etc.html)

I say mid-reach. Hopefully they do “Tufts Syndrome” :)

thanks guys!
bumppppp

definitely not that high of a reach: i say high match or match. Tufts seems to be like the Wake Forest of the north: (i live in the south, and wake forest is an expensive private school ranked about the same as the public ivys and tufts), and Wake Forest isn’t that hard to get into, and tufts won’t be that difficult either. i say you’ll get in.

i would also say to take everything everyone says at this forum with a grain of salt. they usually low-ball all answers i have found…

Chance me back?

University of Chicago Early Admission Chance

I got into Tufts w/ very similar stats RD a few years ago. Match.

thanks guys! boosting my confidence already. but yes “anonymousstudent” i will do that. will going into engineering make it a lot harder for me?

You’re a solid all around applicant. I can’t find any glaring weaknesses so you definitely have a great chance. Chance me back

Defiantly a match. Low reach at most. You have a solid GPA and good test scores, and the fact that you are taking 80% of the APs you school can offer (even though its only 5) should look good. It shows you aim high. ECs are good, but it would be better if you had high ranks in any of the clubs you have been in (President, Vice President, etc.), or at least ranked them on here if you did have any.

Please chance back.

thanks a lot guys, it puts me a little more at ease. tufts seems like a really great school and i’d love to get in there. and yeah, i was actually named president of the community service club today as we speak hah but my leadership roles are a bit limited. i’m hoping the engineering goal won’t stand in my way. but yes i thought the 4/5 AP’s would help! hopefully!
