accepted!
rejected with a 3.93 UW GPA, 2100 SAT (620M 770CW 710W), mediocre subject tests, mostly 5s on all my APs, steller extra-curriculars (captain of 3 varsity sports, 3-season varsity sport athlete for 4 years, tons of music stuff, ect…) and I thought I had very good essays…I’ve lost so much hope for ivy release day tomorrow.
Waitlisted, but I probably won’t accept a spot. Congrats to those who were accepted!
Rejected. I’m from the city Tufts is located in, and it was my dream school. I’m going to my second pick but I can’t help but think of transferring after freshman year.
Woo rejected 34 ACT 4.1 W 12 APs (all 5s (so far) except 1), good essays and EC’s. I definitely expected it. My gpa and class rank are quite low. Oh, well. I do love Bryn Mawr!
Sister got accepted into BME program. 34 ACT and a 4.14/4 UW GPA (we have a weird grading scale). Had many EC with demonstration of how committed she was to each EC.
Rejected, 2180 SAT, 4.0 GPA, top 7%, tons of sports and volunteer work, had a great interview, very good essays. Sigh, tufts was my number one. I suppose my 630 math score screwed me, oh numbers and their defining power. Looks like I’m going to BU, I feel silly holding out hope for ivy day tomorrow.
@ormdad I don’t really see how that is helpful though. All I can possibly see it doing is worry those who are already stressed out by the process. It is clear by the decisions that there is no equation or guarantees. You try your best, make sure you show your personality, and hope for the best. Over analyzing every step isn’t going to help anyone in my opinion at least.
Waitlisted… OOS, 34 ACT, 4.0 unweighted GPA, something like 4.7 weighted. strong extracurriculars. sad day Guessing my essays weren’t as strong as they could’ve been. I’ve accepted a spot on the waitlist though.
How about that waitlist letter: “I appreciate the mixed emotions you probably feel right now.”
also… any letter starting with “Thank you for submitting an application…” is bad news
Waitlisted too.
Tufts is a great university with a fantastic Undergraduate Admissions office. Their blog is superb and I get the feeling from whatever they write that they are extremely sincere and, perhaps to an extent, apologetic for having to turn away most outstanding applicants. As they’ve mentioned (and as is mentioned by other universities), there are just so many of us and so little seats.
For those who were accepted, congratulations! For those who weren’t, don’t take it as an insult to your abilities. In the end, the AOs need to assemble the best class and that might mean them thinking that you would fit best at another top university. You do you.
What is Tufts’ reputation for FA? Last week, it seemed like the vast majority of those accepted at NYU got some aid, and often enough it was 20k, 25k, 30k. (Well, still, that’s against 70k total costs.) Is Tufts that generous?
Rejected, International with 2150 SAT (720 CR, 770 Math, 670 Writing), 790 Math 2, 780 Chem, 760 Bio E, Straight As and some decent leadership activities and all.
Well, it was always a reach for me, was kinda expecting this. Congratulations to everyone who made it
Accepted! So pumped! But looking around at everyone’s results, I can see that so many people were qualified, and those who got in should be grateful luck happened to be on our side.
Maybe this is the wrong place and time, but want to throw out that it’s about time CC put Tufts on their Top Universities list. It’s the one glaring omission.
Rejected. Now I have to choose between UCLA and WashU. My interest areas are Economics and Business. Any insights?
Got accepted to CAS. I have low SAT scores but somehow they worked for Georgetown and Vassar too. Best of luck to those waitlisted and congratulations to other Jumbos!
@gondalineNJ – As much as I’d like to agree, I could understand why Tufts wouldn’t necessarily be considered a top university. There are a few notable schools that have excellent programs in certain fields that aren’t necessarily considered top universities. USC, NYU, and Tufts are all in contention to be considered top universities. However, I think their appeal is mostly regional. Tufts is incredibly strong in the arts and international relations, but really only IR gets a lot of renown. NYU is known for Stern and Tisch mainly, with some other niche programs that are really well respected. USC draws mainly from the west coast and doesn’t have the same reputation here in NY that NYU has, even though both schools are similar in a lot of ways.
I love Tufts and think it’s a great school, but I’m not convinced that it deserves to be up there with some of the other schools. Based on selectivity it deserves to be up there, but rankings and lists are always subjective and I can understand its omission.
Also, congratulations to my fellow jumbos! I’m an ED I applicant and really excited to get to spend the next four years at Tufts.
Rejected with 35 ACT and unique essays… Oh well, I’m ecstatic to be going to Duke!!
Accepted! So excited! Is there supposed to be an email as well as the notification on the portal? I never got an email
Only through portal
