Congratulations to those who were accepted! I am insanely jealous! xoxo
Made it! Good luck to all of you!
ACCEPTED!!! Congrats to everyone else who got accepted, and good luck to everyone else!
Flat denied…I wish I was at least deferred
I’m deferred and not quite sure what to feel
Accepted
Accepted! Can’t believe it!
ACCEPTED THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE
For those who are deferred, I have been told that Tufts does not defer students unless you are close, so that is impressive. I don’t have internal confirmation of that, but that is what I was told.
@katief8 CONGRATS!!! ME TOO!!!
and congrats to everyone else!!!
Yay!! I’M A JUMBO
I can’t wait to see you all in the fall!
Yeah, they don’t like to defer students unless it’s a really hard decision (my friend’s brother is an admissions officer). I was accepted and I’m so excited to be a Jumbo!!!
What other schools did you guys apply to? Or consider applying to?
I was accepted to University of Pittsburgh Honors College last week, but besides Tufts, that’s the only one I’ve heard from. I just withdrew my applications from University of Vermont and Boston College. I was also planning to apply to Columbia, Brown, Boston University, and Brandeis, but not anymore!
Accepted!!
we can confirm that they will give us the financial aid package that we asked for right? Or do we have to wait for more info on financial aid still?
Anyhow I am super happy now xD I was gonna apply to Richmond, Villanova, Grinnell, Vanderbilt, Colby and Rice as well but Tufts is definitely my top choice. Best of luck to those who got deferred or rejected. The battle is lost but you guys still have a lot of chances!!!
@plsletmeintufts I was deferred too last year but was accepted RD - don’t worry there’s still a chance
Honestly, I’m fairly ok with being deferred. I actually predicted a rejection. My subject test scores were really really not up to par with Tuft’s standards ( 660 on Lit, and 620 on USH, although I got a 5 on the ap… Guess I’m just not consistent.) I’m going to retake the subject tests in january(bleh but oh well) and hopefully show them how much I want to go to Tufts by improving my scores to 700+. But I think that especially in light of my awful subject test scores, a deferral shows that they probably were impressed by other parts of my application(I did do reaaallly well on the Writing/Reading portion of the SAT) or maybe just really liked my essays haha.
Anyway.
Does anyone know how many applicants in ED rounds get deferred? I’m just curious because I have heard before that it isn’t that many. Also to everyone out there who got deferred, keep your head up, you applied to a really really competitive school and just to get deferred is an accomplishment. To those who got rejected… college admissions is a crapshoot. I know this is generic, but it is no indication of how smart you are or how hard you have worked throughout high school. Much of it is pure luck and it sucks, the whole hype over elite colleges sucks, but everything will work itself out. I don’t want to negate anyone who was accepted’s accomplishments. You are all incredible and clearly have worked so incredibly hard to get into Tufts. But to some extent, luck was on your side. I’M JEALOUS!!
AND LASTLY-Do you think there is anything extra deferred applicants could do to give them a nudge in regular decisions? I’m not sure whether or not I should email Tufts and demonstrate how the school is still my #1 choice or if that would be pesky. I just really don’t know how to navigate this… If anyone has any advice, that would be great.
@plsletmeintufts Agree. College application is one of the things where luck is extremely important. I still remember reading somewhere that an admission officer once said “if we replace some accepted students with some rejected ones, the quality of the cohort doesn’t change much”
